Founded by Captain Francis Light  (1740-1794) of The East India Company, also of Dallinghoo and Seckford School in Suffolk. He lived at Suffolk House, which was an old pepper plantation. We did a tour to see Fort Cornwallis, Suffolk House   and the old Graveyard where many of the old Penang founders are buried, including the Husband of Anna in 'Anna and The King of Siam' and Light.

Our mooring was right next to Fort Cornwallis, which we also looked around, very convenient for stocking up with Lingham's Chili sauce: They do an extra hot variety here

I remembered many of the old landmarks, including the Penang Club, The E&O Hotel, Whiteways Department Store (now a small shopping Mall, and The Penang Turf Club where I went to the boxing day meets, with my brother and parents Penang is where we got our old 1937 Phantom III instead of a mini, picture shows my mother beside it, complete with the Penang registration.

Our next stop is back to Thailand again, where we visit Phuket for a day.

We left in a big thunder storm. On our arrival we were told "In order for guests with Port side balconies to enjoy the Starboard side view and vice versa, the Balmoral will be sailing in reverse until our arrival into Penang". Could it be the 1st April?
