Safarga Egypt

Arrived here at Midday. Long trip to The Valley of The Kings - but for today just resting with good WiFi courtesy of roaming on to Egyptian mobile networks.

Not much here, very industrial port. Just cruise ships for the Valley and Luxor. Looks like lots of building work for a new terminal!

Meanwhile, here are a couple of pictures of us at the last formal night (and some free wine as we had an Officer dining with us!).

Lunch!

First stop was Mount Nebo where Moses saw the promised land.

Wide views of the Dead Sea, river Jordan, and jerusalem, Nazareth etc.. Then some mosaics and a handicraft shop.

At St George Church in Madaba we saw the mosaic map (6th Century), followed by lunch and then a long drive down the desert highway to Aqaba and the Black Watch.

Today we went for a small swim before breakfast - I was assured my hair would grow after this!!!

Landed in the afternoon, and then a drive to the Dead Sea and the Kempinski Hotel.

Some precautions

Arriving at lunchtime (complete with razor wire, part of the anti-piracy measures which includes high pressure water, armed guards and safe haven drills ) we went to see the Frankincense museum. These are crystals obtained from tree sap and is quite cheap here!

We also saw the old port of Sumharam dating back to 2000 BC, with a small lagoon.

We then went to Bin Ali's tomb, with Helen suitably attired.

Final day in Mumbai - Yacht Clubs and Dentists

We got up in the morning and had a slow breakfast, then went across the road to see the Royal Bombay Yacht Club and have a look round. Really nice old colonial architecture!

We bought some baseball caps and a burgee, and then Charles had an appointment with a dentist! His tooth was all patched up for 4000 Rupees (about £40, a lost filling and rather large cavity) and we returned to the port gateway in a nice car provided by The Taj.

We left at about 2 PM, we spotted  HMS Hermes (now in the Indian Navy) with many other ships. Good that we preceded William and Kate at The Taj!!

Our next stop is in Oman, and from there Jordan and The Suez Canal.

Thanks to Helen's distant relative who was here in 1911 we got a small upgrade at the Taj Palace in Mumbai!! Just had a lovely curry taster menu.
