A little part of Wales in South America - we are in Patagonia, our last port in Argentina.

A bit cooler today, but we had breakfast on the balcony. We moored where the old railway came out into the sea.

Passed the Argentinian and Welsh flags! Then on to a small village of Guinan past the old houses and buildings. Then tea and songs in Welsh and Spanish! Finally a small chapel that looked like one from the valleys. One of the passengers met his Welsh Cousins and many of them spoke in Welsh ...

River cruise turned into a visit to The Dentist!

Today we were supposed to have a river cruise - but Charles' tooth needed fixing - so we had an expedition to a local dentist (on a Sunday!).

All went well, it cost about 25 US Dollars. It rained most of the day, so we came back and had a quiet time in the cabin! We picked up another passenger who came along with us - maybe next time we'll organise special dental visits!

In the evening we had a local folk music concert on board after dinner - one of the players had a 10 string instrument (in 5 courses of 2 strings) called a Charango (part of the Lute family) made from an armadillo, not nice for the animal but it sounded nice! The Guacho's Bolas made some nice dents in the dance floor ...

Three cruise ships hit the tourist area!

Our first port in Argentina, and we are here for two days. We have people leaving the ship here to go home, and about 100 more joining.

We did a Fred Olsen shore tour to see the local sights. The Duarte family tomb with Eva Peron in it, a stop at the Cathedral, and finally the area of La Boca where we had lots of coaches all doing shopping! There were three cruise ships in port, including the Norwegian Sun and a Celebrity boat - very busy!

Sea Lions and Seals

Our last port in Uruguay was Punta del Este. We had a boat trip to see the seals.

This is a tender port, and there was a large MSC boat anchored near us (Musica). A Princess cruise boat also turned up!

We took a trip on a catamaran (a bit bumpy) to see seals and sea lions. Quite close in! Finishing with a raid on the local supermarket, a fridge magnet and a cold beer which came in handy one litre bottle sizes ...

Drizzling a little as we moored up at 8am. Looked out for the remains of the Graf Spee but nothing is now above the water. We did see the rangefinder and anchor in the port.

We had a city tour followed by a steam train ride - but the train got cancelled as they were on strike!

So we had a look round the city and visited a local market - and had a coffee!

We then went around the city and went to the Club Uruguay, where we were shown around a lovely old building - ready to be written up for the National Liberal Club!

A sea day - we had a formal night and the crew show in the evening. In the afternoon we had the choir singing for half an hour - and the Ukuleles played. A rendition of drunken sailor was sung, amongst other songs ...
