Back home!

We left the Hotel at 7.30am, took the train and airport express, checked in the luggage and went to the lounge. Flight took a bit longer due to the headwind, and then drove back from Heathrow.

A small diversion to the house as the road was closed outside with the electrical works and hole digging just outside!

Stockholm - Final day

Today we went to see the City Hall, where the Nobel prize is presented. We had a guided tour around, and had lunch in the Restaurant there, very reasonable price.

We then took a bus to see some shops, and returned to the Hilton Hotel at Slussen.

We've been travelling around Stockholm on 7 day tickets, which covers buses, trains and ferries - a good way of getting around!

Back to Stockholm

Today we arrived back in Stockholm, and caught the Bus back to the Hilton. Luckily we got the upgrade again which meant we can get free dining in the Executive Floor.

We had a coffee at one of the Wayne's Coffee shops around the corner and caught a Bus to the Royal Palace (no changing of the Guard this time either!), and the went on to eat Meatballs and some Pasta.

Then on to the Historic Museum where we saw the Gold Exhibition - lots of them! We took a Train back to the Hotel and chilled out ...

Helsinki - Finland

Up early to get our Breakfast, and watch the ice (and hear it!) as we cruised into the Harbour.

Today we took a Bus Tour which left the boat at 1030, and spent about 2 hours seeing the sights.

An underground Church, Sibelius Memorial, and finishing off in the Market Square: We visited Roberts Coffee shop for some tomato soup for lunch. We also bought some rather nice cheese, before returning to the boat.

Tonight we leave at 17.30 to return to Stockholm. Dinner is at 6 PM. We had the Viking Buffet that includes unlimited wine, beer and food ....

Stockholm and Helsinki

Today we checked out of the Hilton, and went to see The Royal Palace. Then we went on to the NK Department store to wonder at the prices!!

We then went by train and bus to the Viking Line ferry terminal. We sailed away at 1630 Swedish time. Had a nice buffet in the Viking Buffet (free beer and wine!) and hence to bed. We stop off at Marienham at about midnight, and then sail on to Helsinki.

We booked a tour bus at 1030 for just over an hour when we arrive on the boat.

Visit to see the Wasa

Today we went to see the Wasa, a ship that sunk in 1628 on it's first voyage. Remarkably it is 98% original, and has some wonderful carvings.

We took the bus to the museum, and came back on the ferry boat. We'd bought 7 day Bus and Train (and Boat!) tickets on our arrival at the airport last night. We had a nice lunch at the Wasa Museum.

Stockholm in Sweden

Today we are in Stockholm, sub zero with snow!

Yesterday we drove to Heathrow and charged up the car at the short term car park  at Terminal 5, and then moved it. We got a nice upgrade at the Sofitel, had a meal at Carluccio's and then a few free drinks in the Sofitel Lounge.

Today we had lunch in the BA Lounge, flew to Arlanda Airport, and then the fast train and taxi to the Hilton overlooking the water.

Why is this on the cruise blog? Well we do have a ferry cruise to Helsinki! More on this later!
